Join for a theatrical grab-bag of all the best things our summer camps have to offer. Each day will focus on a different skill or experience. Work with experienced artists and experts in their fields as we explore Acting, Technical Theatre, Improv & Comedy, Puppetry, and so much more! If the students fall in love with one particular day, there are more opportunities later in the summer for them to continue the adventure.
Lion King: Kids Jun 29- Jul 10

It’s time for our youngest stars to shine! Our younger student performers will rehearse and perform in a musical based on the beloved Disney classic and journey to the African Savannah in The Lion King: Kids. Students will get mini classes on acting, singing, dancing, character development as they rehearse for their very own production. Whether your student is a seasoned performer or this is your first time on stage, there is a spot in the cast for everyone. Final performances are on Friday at 4pm and Saturday at 10am the final week of camp.
Please note this camp is only 9 days long, as the first Friday of the session, NextStop will be closed to celebrate the Fourth of July
Mysteries & Mayhem Jul 13-17

NEW! Step into a world of secrets, suspense, and stagecraft: Mysteries & Mayhem invites students to become storytellers, detectives, and performers as they explore what makes a mystery truly mysterious. Join us for this brand-new, one-week theatre camp where young actors will dive into the world of storytelling, suspense, and stage magic. Together, campers will uncover what makes a great mystery — from clever clues and sneaky suspects to dramatic twists and plenty of theatrical mayhem! Whether your camper loves to act, write, direct, or just imagine wild stories, they’ll find a place to shine. By week’s end, they’ll have built confidence, teamwork skills, and a brand-new appreciation for how mystery and theatre come together to create unforgettable moments on stage. There will be an informal showcase on Friday afternoon so campers can show off what they’ve learned.
Anastasia: Youth Edition Jul 20-24*

It’s a rumor, a legend, a mystery-and it’s coming to NextStop! Join the older students to rehearse and perform in a musical based on one of history’s great mysteries: Anastasia Youth Edition. Our younger performers will be featured in the ensemble of this fully staged production. Students will get mini classes on acting, singing, dancing, character development, as we rehearse for the final performances. Lead roles will be cast from upper grade students in the previous week. Final performances will be Friday at 4pm and Saturday at 10am at the end of the camp week.

Calling all budding actors! We will create characters, play theater games, and make stories come to life in this acting class perfect for both first-time actors and seasoned performers. Join us for a special showing of what we’ve learned on Friday afternoon.

Musical Theatre, here we come! Students play theater games and learn the basics of acting, singing, and dancing from seasoned performers in the field. We will showcase select songs and dances at the end of the day on Friday.

Acting & Improv Jun 29-Jul 2

Whose line IS it anyway? Learn the art (and fun) of acting without a script as we improvise our way through games, think on our feet, and create scenes without memorizing a single line! Then switch gears to try out scene work and character development when you have a script in front of you. Exercise those acting muscles in a variety of ways during this exciting, four-day combo-camp. No experience necessary.

Over five exciting days, campers will explore famous characters, classic scenes, and timeless tales through acting, storytelling, and creative play. Join us on Friday afternoon for a brief showcase of all that we’ve learned!

Join us in the swamp this summer and let your Freak Flag fly as we bring Shrek Jr. to life! Aspiring actors, singers, and dancers will work together to put on a full-scale musical production. Whether you are a seasoned performer, or this is your first time on stage, there is a spot in the cast for everyone. Students will get mini classes on acting, singing, dancing, and character development from our expert teaching artists as we rehearse to put on our very own production. Roles will be auditioned and assigned during our first 2 days of class. Final performances are on Friday at 4pm and Saturday at 10am on the last week of camp.

By popular demand! Each summer production session will again include a limited number of one-week, backstage crew opportunities. Students will help to create scenery, lighting, props, and costumes used in the final performance. The crew will also be backstage during the final performances, serving as stage managers, stagehands, and board operators. No experience necessary, this student team will be led by a theater tech expert who will teach them everything they need to know to run a fantastic show.
Final performances are 4pm on the last day of camp (Friday), and 10am the next morning (Saturday).

Whether you’re an experienced performer, a behind-the-scenes enthusiast, or brand new to the stage, the Teen Conservatory Play offers a chance to collaborate with a professional production team and bring this electrifying play to life in a full-scale production.
Tech Team Details: Work begins the week of Jul 6, with joint tech workshops and scheduled lab time alongside professional designers.
The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals: School Edition (Cast & Production Crew)

Join the cast or crew of The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals: School Edition, a full-scale production of Team StarKid’s hilarious and offbeat cult favorite. Work with a professional production team to bring this one-of-a-kind show to life on stage.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Location: NextStop Summer Education Programs take place at NextStop Theatre: 269 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon, VA 20170.
Registration Fees and Payment: All registration fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. Registration using a credit card is available online. To register and pay by check, please e-mail education@nextstoptheatre.org or call (703)-481-5930×0. (Make checks payable to NextStop Theatre Company. A $25 fee will be charged for returned checks.)
Late Pickup/Fees: Our program day ends at 4:00pm. After 4:15pm, late fees are assessed at the rate of $1.50 per minute. Late fees are due upon pick up of the student.
Scholarships: A limited number of need and merit-based scholarships are available. To be considered, please fill out this application.
Refunds: A full refund will be issued in the event that a program is canceled for any reason. A partial refund (minus a non-refundable 25% deposit) is available if a participant is withdrawn more than one month prior to the start date of the program.
Liability: NextStop Theatre Company assumes no liability for injuries or damages arising from participation in any class or program.
Photography/Video: Photos and/or video taken of participants during programs may be used without compensation or further consent of the participants and/or the parents/guardians of the participant.
