Little Adventurers: Fairytales
June 17th-June 21st

From Goldilocks to The Big Bad Wolf, we will explore myth, magic, and epic tales! We may even create some new classics along the way.

Little Adventurers: Ready, Set.. Act!
June 24th-June 28th

Calling all budding actors! We will create characters, play theater games, and make stories come to life in this acting class perfect for both first-time actors and seasoned performers

Little Adventurers: Puppetry
July 1st-July 3rd 
(Three day mini-camp)

What do The Lion King, Little Shop of Horrors, Into the Woods, and Frozen all have in common? Puppets! Work with experts to learn how to create and use your own puppets to bring any story to life! From marionettes and hand puppets to larger than life creations, you don't want to miss this adventure.

Little Adventurers: Kids to the Rescue
July 8th- July 12th

From Percy Jackson to Little Orphan Annie, and Ruby Bridges to Malala-- little kids are capable of being BIG heroes. Join us as we explore what makes a hero through storytelling, creative play, and more.

Join the older students to rehearse and perform in a musical based on the beloved orphan who has captured America’s heart for generations. Our younger performers will be featured in the ensemble of this spunky and heart-warming adventure! Students will get mini classes on acting, singing, dancing, character development, and we will rehearse to put on our very own production. Lead roles will be cast from upper grade students in the previous week. Students will join the ensemble for the second week of rehearsals and for all performances.

Musical Fun
July 29th- August 2nd

Musical Theatre, here we come! Students play theater games and learn the basics of acting, singing, and dancing. We will showcase select songs and dances at the end of the day on Friday.

Rising 5th through 10th Graders

Backstage All-Stars!
June 24th-June 28th

Students will get an in-depth introduction to the world of design and theatre tech. Each day will feature a different, special guest teacher, offering insight and training in theatrical scenic design, lighting, sound, costumes, and stage management. $295 early bird; $320 regular. Early Bird pricing through February 28th.

Audition Bootcamp
July 1st- July 3rd
(Three day mini-camp)

Gain valuable insights and learn helpful strategies on how to prepare, what to do (and not do), and what directors are looking for during the casting process. Attendees will participate in three sessions focused on in depth discussion and exercises to develop audition skills. The final session will include a mock audition for and comprehensive feedback from local professional directors.

Annie Jr. 
Session 1: July 8th- July 19th

Whether you are a seasoned performer or this is your first time onstage, there is a spot in the cast for everyone. Students will get mini classes on acting, singing, dancing, character development, and we will rehearse to put on our very own production. Roles will be auditioned and assigned during our first 2 days of class. Final performances are on Saturday morning following the class.

Improv
July 22nd- July 26th

Whose line IS it anyway? Learn the art (and fun) of acting without a script as we improvise our way through games, think on our feet, and create scenes without memorizing a single line! No experience necessary. This class is a NextStop favorite!

The Addams Family 
July 29th- August 9th (Limited availability)

Aspiring actors, singers, and dancers will work together to put on a full-scale musical production! Whether you are a seasoned performer, or this is your first time on stage, there is a spot in the cast for everyone. Students will get mini classes on acting, singing, and choreography, and we will rehearse to put on our very own production. Roles will be auditioned and assigned during the first two days of class. Final performances are the Saturday morning following the class.

Production Crew
July 15th-July 19th
August 5th-August 9th

By popular demand! Each Summer Theatre Adventures production session will now include a limited number of one-week, backstage crew opportunities. Students will help to create scenery, lighting, props, and costumes used in the final performance. The crew will also be backstage during the final performances, serving as stage managers, stagehands, and board operators.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Location:  NextStop Summer Education Programs take place at NextStop Theatre: 269 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon, VA 20170. 

Registration Fees and Payment:   All registration fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. Registration using a credit card is available online. To register and pay by check, please e-mail education@nextstoptheatre.org or call (703)-481-5930×0. (Make checks payable to NextStop Theatre Company. A $25 fee will be charged for returned checks.)

Late Pickup/Fees:  Our program day ends at 4:00pm. After 4:15pm, late fees are assessed at the rate of $1.50 per minute. Late fees are due upon pick up of the student.

Scholarships:  A limited number of need and merit-based scholarships are available.  Please contact education@nextstoptheatre.org to request an application.  Applications are due by April 5, 2024.

Refunds:  A full refund will be issued in the event that a program is canceled for any reason.  A partial refund (minus a non-refundable 25% deposit) is available if a participant is withdrawn more than one month prior to the start date of the program.  

Liability:  NextStop Theatre Company assumes no liability for injuries or damages arising from participation in any class or program.

Photography/Video:  Photos and/or video taken of participants during programs may be used without compensation or further consent of the participants and/or the parents/guardians of the participant.
