About the Show

Community Outreach Family Musical

The beloved story of the big, green ogre, who becomes the most unlikely of heroes.

NextStop’s popular holiday tradition continues with the story of Shrek the ogre, who unwittingly sets off on a hero’s journey through a fairytale kingdom. A cast of thirty local children will join a team of NextStop’s professional actors, directors, and designers to put on a live adventure, perfect for the whole family.

Running time 1 hour and 30 minutes. Appropriate for all ages, but all those entering the theatre must have a ticket, regardless of age.

Since 2014, NextStop has produced a Community Outreach Show where a cast of kids get the opportunity to work alongside artists from NextStop’s professional company. Professional Directors, Designers, and Actors help kids bring a show to life for families in the community.

Not only do “by-kids-for-kids” performances help foster a life-long love of the performing arts among new generations, but the productions support other local community organizations and causes through ticket donations, along with outreach and awareness projects.
