NextStop: Broadway!

0

NextStop is taking a trip to the Big Apple this winter.

Join Producing Artistic Director Evan Hoffmann on a whirlwind weekend in New York City. Up to 55 guests will take in three of Broadway’s biggest hits and enjoy sightseeing in the city on February 20 and 21.

The Shows

Fun Home: This 2015 Tony Award recipient for five categories, including Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Score, was adapted from a graphic-novel memoir. The story concerns Alison Bechdel’s relationship with her gay father and her attempts to unlock the mysteries surrounding his life and is the first Broadway musical to feature a lesbian protagonist.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time: This play-within-a-play presents a mystery surrounding the death of a neighbour’s dog that is investigated by young Christopher Boone, who has Asperger’s-like issues, and his relationships with his parents and school mentor. Adapted from a novel of the same title, the play tied the record for most Olivier Awards won in 2013 and picked up four 2015 Tony Awards, including for Best Play after its transfer to Broadway.

She Loves Me: You can be one of the first to see this hotly anticipated revival of the 1963 Tony-nominated musical, which will start previews this February. The plot revolves around Budapest shop employees Georg Nowack and Amalia Balash who, despite being consistently at odds with each other at work, are unaware that each is the other’s secret pen pal met through lonely-hearts ads.
