About the Text and Language

NextStop Theatre will be using the Folger Shakespeare Library’s version of “Much Ado About Nothing.” This is a traditional text for the play. While it can sometimes be easy to be intimidated or confused by Shakespeare’s text, it is important to remember that Shakespeare was writing in the same English language we speak today. Furthermore, unlike most of his plays, “Much Ado About Nothing” is actually written in 79% prose (rather than iambic pentameter.) “Much Ado” is a romantic comedy for the “common man.”
