Free Education Workshop This Weekend!

NextStop Theatre’s Education Program is hosting a FREE acting presentation and workshop this Sunday, May 22 from 10am-11:30am at NextStop Theatre. Four professional actors are going to present The Myth of the Golden Carp, then invite students to create their own short scenes from classic myths. The program is geared toward 4th-9th graders, but all ages are welcome.

This program is offered as part of The Big Read, which is an NEA initiative that ArtsHerndon is participating in. All of the Herndon events engage with the book, Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya.

In Bless Me, Ultima, the Myth of the Golden Carp is an important episode on Antonio’s journey to understanding the competing worlds and beliefs of his family. As a part of Herndon’s BIG READ, NextStop Theatre is presenting an exciting, interactive workshop focused on this colorful story.

Elementary and middle school students (and their parents) are invited to come see some of NextStop’s finest professional actors perform a staged version of the myth and will then be invited to join with these amazing performers to create their own modern adaptations of this and other classic myths and fables.
No ticket purchase necessary. Doors open at 9:30am; seats for the workshop are limited and are first come, first served.
