WHAT: Do you dream of running your own theatre company one day?
NextStop Theatre is currently accepting applications for individuals interested in serving as Artistic Leadership interns. Candidates with the right skills and ambition will report directly to NextStop’s Producing Artistic Director and be immersed in all areas of theatrical administration, including:
- Season planning
- Production staffing and management
- Organizational planning and budgeting
- Patron and community engagement
- Marketing and development
- Educational programming
A 9-month apprentice program for aspiring and emerging theatre leaders and administrators to gain real world experience working with a mid-sized professional theatre. Participants will work directly with NextStop’s Producing Artistic Director, as well as hand-in-hand with NextStop’s artists, technicians, and administrators on full productions and organizational activities. The program will provide insight into how the many departments of production and administration intersect to make theatre happen.
WHERE: Most activities related to internships will take place at NextStop’s theater, scene shop or costume shop in Herndon, Virginia. Participants will be provided the chance to see all NextStop productions, as well as to visit facilities and/or attend productions at other theatres. All interns must have a reliable means of transportation.
WHEN: Participants will be expected to contribute an average of 10-15 hours per week, with variations based on availability and production schedules.
