There’s a new theatre adventure happening this summer, and you’re invited!

NextStop’s Summer Theatre Adventures are week-long theatre classes for rising 1st through 9th graders which follow a process-based curriculum to foster a life-long love of the performing arts. Each session is led and designed by highly experienced professional teaching artists, allowing students to explore different subjects and areas of theatre week by week.

Sessions meet Monday through Friday, 9 am-4 pm. Single week sessions present a showcase at 3:30 pm on Fridays, and two week sessions perform full productions on the Saturday following the second week.

Are there any opportunities for students who want to learn about backstage?

The Crew Section of “Let’s Put On A Show” in the summer is great for students who want to try their hand at the design/tech world. Typical activities will involve lots of theatre games and learning about different areas of design (lights, sound, scene painting, costumes, stage make-up, props, etc) as well as trying them out. Students will also get to be hands-on in the session, and will actually get to help make the set, costumes, and props that will be used in our “Let’s Put On A Show” On Stage session.
  • + -

Will students have to audition to be a part of the cast of the performance session (“Let’s Put on a Show”)?

All students who enroll in the ACTOR session will be a part of the cast! We will hold auditions on the first day to determine who will be playing which roles, and students will get their scripts the first day. We will cast the show based on who enrolls in the session, and no roles are pre-cast…it will definitely be an adventure!

Our scholarships are determined by need and merit. Need guidelines are based on the federal guidelines for Free and Reduced lunches at school.
